My mother’s daughter

They say I am my mother’s daughter!
But they don’t know that I never knew my mother.
From the time I could recognise and realise what she would mean to me, she was gone
First lost in her illness and then lost to it and for us all.
How can I be my mother’s daughter, when I don’t know and understand who a mom is?
They say I am my mother’s daughter, when I don’t see her anymore …not in my reflection not in hers!
Yet I lost her!
When I need her the most!
Now I am a mother too yet….
The words fail me!

  1. Yeah..very true..a daughter’s life could be greatly enriched by embodying even a fraction of her mother’s qualities and wisdom.
