I am a creative person, who loves to write and many times face a block, where I look at my screen and come up with random things. These thoughts are so random that if I string them together, I can’t seem to make sense of it. Somehow different beads in a string are nevertheless beautiful too.
I keep on staring at the screen hoping something would just simply spur up and speak to me in ways that I have never really imagined. But sometimes I fail. I wonder if it is my failure or it’s just my brain that has gone into some limbo. There are some ways to overcome the writer’s block and stop procrastination (that I am trying now).
Acceptance
Is it that hard to accept that you are stuck and need some time to come out of this lumber and be back? Why is there a need to add some stress to a brain that is already not able to produce anything worthy?
Let it be and leave it alone!
Don’t read up
Don’t try to diagnose yourself. There is nothing wrong with you! Instead of doing some research, read something that soothes you, that is interesting. It necessarily does not have to be – How to Write Better
Write Something Everyday
Writers or any creative person can not live without their creativity. Do not force yourself to do something you are no in the mood to do, but do not let this lumber become permanent either. The place, where you feel like a block and the creative juices are not flowing is also a trap that is created by the mind itself. Force a bit, you would be amazed at the results.
Target on something else
Shifting focus is a great exercise. Why are you doing what you are doing? Is it just a creative outlet or is it something much more than that? If you are doing it for aesthetic fulfillment or are you serious about turning your passion into something productive? Just switch your focus and work your way towards it. Trust me, if you look at the why of it, you would not get stuck that many times (it still may occur, but not as frequently) and if you do fall into the same habit, it would be easier for you to come out of it.
Bottom line being that do not let other people turn you into an example. Follow your passion and have enough strength to follow it through. Kindly do not leave it on time and destiny to make things happen. They happen when you want them to.
