I am the daughter

I am the daughter
that daughter who is liked by all
sometime as a trophy
to be kept for all to admire
but after a time
catch dust
cleaned, swiped sometime

Once lost the shine
bound, tied and repurposed
as a holder
renting the place (in mind)
with no money or acknowledgement

I am the daughter
they birth not
bound and sometimes gagged
by the societal expectations
forgotten in the back
respected not, loved not

They eat they sleep they
taketh what they think is theirs
Waking up working
Sleep early – never
the son needs his rest
I am that daughter
who is spent but not allowed
to rest

Squeezing whatever they can
health-physical & mental gone
relations forgotten
friends – Who are they?
personal space – never heard of!

I am that daughter
who is deeply loved
yet crave a speck of attention
sliver of kind words
and spoon full of love
That she deserves
but only got from the ones
who wed her away

I am that daughter
who lost respect & herself
when laws became toxically real
